University of New Hampshire Wind Band Invitational

This non-competitive event will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012. Four bands will participate during the morning session and three bands will participate during the afternoon session. This year, renowned composer and clinician Mark Camphouse will be joining us. During the course of the day, the ensembles will receive a forty-minute clinic from UNH Director of Bands Andrew Boysen on any piece of their choosing and a forty-minute clinic from Mr. Camphouse on a piece of his that they have chosen (we hope that the opportunity to work with the actual composer on his own music will strengthen the experience for the students). The bands will also have the opportunity to observe clinics with other visiting bands, an opportunity that is rare these days, especially in a non-competitive and supportive environment. Finally, our UNH Wind Symphony will perform a concert (including some of Mr. Camphouse’s music) for all participating ensembles in the middle of the day.
Ensembles are not expected to have music prepared at a festival level, and performances will not be adjudicated. It is our hope that the students will benefit from the clinics at any stage of their preparation for performance.
