The UNH Winter Guard, instructed by Joe Meallo, rehearses on Sundays and Wednesdays in the Field House or New Hampshire Hall during the spring semester and performs in several holiday parades in November and December to raise funds. Started as a way for members of the colorguard section of the Wildcat Marching Band to hone their skills in the off-season, the UNH Winter Guard has evolved into an auditioned performing ensemble and recognized student organization and began competing in the Independent A class in 2016, making finals in their first WGI regional.
The intent of this organization is to be fluent in current trends, design and technique in the competitive realm of winter guard, and to positively represent the University of New Hampshire. The objective of this group is to strive for excellence, to gain dance and guard skills, and to promote community among its members.
